Black patients faced higher symptom burden than White patients during the course of chemotherapy.

A study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management compared symptom burden and the changes experienced throughout chemotherapy between Black and White women living with early-stage breast cancer. Researchers found symptom burden to significantly increase over the course of chemotherapy for all patients, with higher scores for pain and physical function for Black patients, among other disparities.
