Tech-Enhanced Palliative Care Improves Quality of Life in Children Living with Advanced Cancer
A study led by Mass General Brigham in the Journal of Clinical Oncology suggests that a more proactive, tech-driven approach to palliative care can significantly improve the daily lives of children living with advanced cancer.
The randomized trial assessed PediQUEST Response, a proactive, technology-driven pediatric palliative care intervention using weekly electronic symptom monitoring and specialized care. In 154 children aged 2 and older with advanced cancer across five U.S. centers, the intervention improved quality of life and alleviated symptoms such as pain, nausea, and fatigue compared with standard care, emphasizing the value of specialized pediatric palliative care in supporting children and families throughout serious illness.
