Palliative Care Consultation in Hospitalized Patients With COVID-19
An article published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, Santiago Lopez, MD, et al. reports one of the largest retrospective studies of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 received a palliative care evaluation. The authors describe the characteristics of the studied population, the surge and unsustainable demand for specialized palliative care resources (particularly in the ICU), and the social disparities among patients.
