JAMA Network Open study examines the effect of a palliative care coaching intervention among family caregivers of patients with advanced cancer.

In an article published in JAMA Network Open, researchers tested a lay coach–led, early palliative care telehealth intervention for African American and rural-dwelling family caregivers of patients with advanced cancer. Though the intervention did not significantly improve caregiver distress, quality of life, or burden at twenty-four weeks, exploratory analyses suggest potential benefits for caregivers with elevated baseline distress.
