A multi-disciplinary survey highlights clinician attitudes toward palliative care for chronic critical illness in LTACHs.

A study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management found that clinicians caring for patients with chronic critical illness overwhelmingly support palliative care involvement in long-term acute care hospitals. Surveyed clinicians most often associated palliative care with comfort and support and expressed high levels of trust in palliative care clinicians, pointing to a gap between clinician readiness and access to palliative care in these settings.
