The American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Improvement Program (ACS TQIP) Palliative Care Best Practices Guidelines—which aim to provide recommendations for managing given patient populations or injury types with special attention to trauma care providers—is now live on the ACS website. This edition of Best Practices presents recommendations regarding care of patients receiving palliative care based on the best available evidence, as well as, on the consensus opinion of the expert panel. Over the course of the year, the Best Practices Project Team, along with a panel of guest experts from appropriate specialties, work together to create each guideline. Content was provided by both evidence-based literature and consensus of the group where substantial evidence was lacking.
