CAPC's clinical training unit, Chronic Pain Strategies for Patients with Serious Illness, contains comprehensive training in chronic pain management, risk mitigation, assessing opioid misuse, and assisting with access to treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD) for patients living with serious illness. It addresses the connection between chronic pain, OUD and substance use disorder, and serious illness, and cover factors that impact decision-making for medically complex patients.

In 2021, CAPC’s Project Equity workgroup conducted a comprehensive literature review to understand what is known about disparities in health care experiences and quality of life for Black people living with serious illness, and their families.
