'Music Makes Everything Better': A Texas Doctor Spins Vinyl to Give Patients Relief
An episode of NPR’s All Things Considered highlights the ATX-VINyL program at Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas, which rolls a vinyl record player to patients’ bedsides. Started by palliative care physician Dr. Tyler Jorgensen and supported by a team of volunteers, the program plays familiar songs from patients’ favorite genres to help ease emotional distress, spark memories, and create meaningful shared moments for people living with serious illness and those who care for them.
