Is There a Need for Palliative Care for Patients With Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF)?
In a viewpoint published in JAMA Cardiology, authors Sarah Godfrey, MD, MPH, et al. discuss that while heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is the leading form of heart failure worldwide, palliative care is underutilized in this patient population. The authors state that patients living with HFpEF would benefit from palliative care, due to their complex needs, and that dedicated studies are needed.
