In a study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, a team from Boston Children’s Hospital shared how they used structured field visits to peer pediatric palliative care programs to guide the redesign of their own team. By engaging the full interdisciplinary team, observing diverse program structures, and applying change-management strategies, they identified key “tension points” and fostered team-wide buy-in for a new clinical model. The study highlights how intentional peer learning can drive both practical and cultural improvements in pediatric palliative care programs.
