Hospice News highlights a new national effort to update palliative care guidelines to reflect evolving care models, technology, and patient needs.

An article in Hospice News reports that the National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care (NCHPC) has convened a panel of 33 experts to develop the fifth edition of the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care. First established in 2004, the guidelines define national standards for interprofessional palliative care across settings and are endorsed by more than 90 organizations. The update will incorporate new evidence and reflect changes since the 2018 edition, including telehealth expansion, evolving care models, cultural considerations, pediatric care, and payment structures, supporting high-quality, equitable serious illness care nationwide.
