Study finds parental acceptance of pediatric palliative care is driven more by perceived benefit to the child and parental distress than by program names.

A study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management explored whether the naming or framing of pediatric palliative care (PPC) influences parents' perception and acceptance. Researchers found that neither a team's name nor framing PPC with "end-of-life" language significantly affected parental acceptance. Instead, acceptance was shaped by how much parents believed PPC was in their child’s best interest and by the level of distress they felt when considering it.
