Are We Growing Leaders? Exploring Leadership Training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (HPM) Fellowship
A study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management explored the current state of leadership training in hospice and palliative medicine (HPM) fellowships. Through a national survey of fellowship program directors, the authors found that while day-to-day leadership skills are widely considered essential, many programs lack structured curricula to teach them. The authors recommend that a set of core leadership competencies are developed to guide consistent, comprehensive training across HPM fellowships.
CAPC's new curriculum, Leadership Training for Palliative Care and Geriatrics Professionals, provides current and aspiring leaders with the skills necessary to lead with confidence, advocate strategically, and build sustainable programs. Designed for palliative care and geriatrics professionals at various stages of their leadership journey, this program offers practical training, tools, and insights to help learners grow into the leaders our patients urgently need. Fellowship directors can use this curriculum to empower their fellows with the skills needed to become the next generation of strong, compassionate leaders.
