An article in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management highlights how CAPC has scaled virtual clinical skills training to more than 160,000 clinicians over the past decade.

Published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, “A Decade of Palliative Care-Focused Virtual Clinical Skills Training” examines the impact and growth of the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC)'s online clinical training curriculum since its launch in 2015.

Authored by CAPC's Rima Itani Al-Nimr, MS, RD, LD, Rachael Heitner, MPH, Michelle Turner, M.Ed., Jasmin Thomas, MS, Stephanie Leung, MBA, and Andrew Esch, MD, MBA, the article describes how CAPC’s evidence-based virtual training program has delivered more than 1.4 million course completions and issued over 1.2 million continuing education credits across disciplines.

The authors highlight the curriculum’s role in addressing widespread gaps in palliative care skills training, supporting onboarding, continuing education, and specialty-focused learning in areas including communication, pain and symptom management, and dementia. The article also outlines future plans for interactive virtual workshops and certificate programs to deepen clinical skill development and mentorship.
