Successfully Collaborating to Support People Living with Dementia and Their Caregivers

WHEN

  • Thursday, March 21

    12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. ET

People living with dementia and their caregivers have many, complex needs that change over time. Despite the fact that no drugs can slow or reverse the course of dementia, there are many interventions that an interdisciplinary team (IDT) can offer to alleviate suffering and improve quality of life for patients and caregivers alike.

During this webinar, Cindy Barton of UCSF Memory and Aging Center and Stefanie Bonigut of Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California and Northern Nevada will discuss their roles as part of an IDT caring for people living with dementia and their caregivers. They will discuss the services they each deliver, how their teams work together, and strategies for effective partnerships between health care institutions and community-based service providers.

Objectives:

  1. Understand potential roles and responsibilities of members of an IDT providing support for people living with dementia.
  2. Describe effective services/interventions for improving the quality of life of people living with dementia and their caregivers.
  3. Consider opportunities for partnership between health care institutions and community-based service providers.

Who should attend:

  • Health care providers who care for people living with dementia and their caregivers in any setting
  • Community service providers
  • Any provider or health care leader planning to improve dementia care and caregiver support
