About the Presentation

Health care reform includes opportunities for palliative care providers as many of the White House, Senate and House proposals specify concerns that can be addressed by the palliative care provider community. Examples include services more consistent with stated patient and family preferences, more effective management of transitions between sites of care and more efficient use of health care dollars. In several of the proposed bills, legislative language specifies improved provider partnerships as a means to achieving the desired outcomes. This presentation will showcase how hospitals are increasingly looking to their local hospices as natural partners with whom to begin or enhance hospital palliative care initiatives, and as a medium to bridge acute inpatient care and services in non-hospital settings.
