ABOUT THE PRESENTATION

The introduction of palliative care programs into in-patient hospital settings is increasing in the United States. With these programs come a variety of considerations for changes to existing hospital policies and procedures as well as the development of new ones. The development of internal and external policies addressing issues such as care of the seriously ill patient, ventilator withdrawal outside the intensive care unit, opioid medication usage, and the efficiency of transfers of palliative care patients between in-hospital locations (e.g., units, scatter beds) will be addressed during this audio conference.
