About the Presentation

Warning: This session will create a dramatic shift in how you and your team diagnose and solve problems.

In response to pressing issues that we aren’t able to solve, most health care institutions are layering one process improvement initiative on another. All institutions have unique cultures which directly impact their ability to change how patients receive and perceive care. Palliative care programs, both new and established, must learn how to effectively work within their existing culture. However, in many institutions, there is a high degree of dysfunction and inertia that interferes with the work of the palliative care team, often leading to frustration and burn-out.

This session will demonstrate how organizations and teams can improve interdisciplinary trust and short circuit institutional dysfunction by embedding a Cultural Operating System.

Side effects: May include a reduced need for complicated process-improvement initiatives; the reduction of unnecessary meetings; and an environment where day-to-day problems are solved at their root level rather than escalating through your organization.

Join Us and . . .

  • Identify root causes for institutional dysfunction and explore simple solutions based on building trusting relationships among staff (including physicians).
  • Gain insight into how you and your organization can solve problems more effectively by embedding a Cultural Operating System.
  • Describe initial steps for improving your institutional culture.

Who Should Attend?

Physicians; nurses; social workers, financial managers; administrators and others involved in operating a palliative care program.
