ABOUT THE PRESENTATION

The field of palliative care has grown rapidly to include fixed bed inpatient units, special skill sets, specially trained clinical staff, research and fiscal opportunities. The Thomas Palliative Care unit was the first in the field to show equal or better symptom management and 60% cost reduction for its patients. It has expanded to 1,800 consults per year, and has generated $1 million per year in cost avoidance, including genuine, if small profits, and a growing research agenda. Learn more about what they did, and why and how they did it.
