PCLC Hits New High: 1,000 Teams Trained!
Palliative Care Leadership Centers™ (PCLC) has officially trained over 1,000 teams! Palliative care teams in US hospitals have more than doubled in the last 10 years. PCLCs have worked diligently to help that number grow. Eighty percent of PCLC-trained programs are up and running within two years. PCLC training ensures sustainability and growth for established programs.

The Joint Commission Launches Advanced Certification for Palliative Care
The Joint Commission (TJC) accredited hospitals now have the option of seeking Advanced Certification for Palliative Care. Access CAPC tools and resources useful for meeting certification standards. Also, this year, The Joint Commission will be on-site at the CAPC National Seminar to answer your questions about the new Advanced Certification for Palliative Care.
Commission on Cancer Releases New Standards
The Commission on Cancer released the newly revised manual, Cancer Program Standards 2012: Ensuring Patient-Centered Care. The manual includes robust palliative care standards. This represents an important step towards the recognition that all cancer patients and families have equal access to palliative care throughout the continuum of care.
Apply for Palliative Care Research Grants through the National Palliative Care Research Center
Deadlines to apply for the Pilot and Exploratory Project Support Grant and the Junior Faculty Career Development Award are approaching. Letters of Intent are due November 1, 2011.
World Health Organization Releases New Palliative Care Booklet
The new WHO booklet, Palliative Care for Older People: Better Practices, provides examples to help those involved in planning and supporting care-oriented services appropriately and effectively.
Palliative Care in Hospitals Continues Rapid Growth for 10th Straight Year, According to Latest Analysis
Palliative care in U.S. hospitals has increased for the tenth consecutive year, according to a new analysis released by the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC). The number of hospitals with a palliative care team increased from 658 (24.5%) to 1,568 (63.0%)—a steady 138.3% increase from 2000-2009. Learn more.
