Fairview University Medical Center Ranked Among the Nation's Best Hospitals - Palliative Care Program Increases Ranking
U.S. News & World Report ranked Fairview University Medical Center, one of the six Palliative Care Leadership Centers, among the nation's best hospitals in seven medical specialties. Of more than 6,000 medical centers in the U.S., only 177 were of high-enough quality to be ranked in even one specialty this year. Recognized hospitals had to satisfy specific requirements and were ranked based on reputation, mortality ratio and care-related factors such as nursing and patient services. In the specialties of Cancer, Geriatrics, Heart and Heart Surgery, and Respiratory Disorders, hospitals receive points for the presence of a palliative care program. Fairview’s ranking in seven specialties is evidence of the importance of palliative care programs in hospitals.
