Post Palliative Care Team Work Flow

We have a busy inpatient 24/7 consult service with 2 Full time Nurse Practioners and 1 Full time Physician. I am interested in how other services divide weekly work load for consults, follow ups and structure time off.

We have an 11-bed inpatient unit plus pain AND palliative care consult service, but our consults are officially 8a-430p M-Fri and week-ends as able (but mainly for admissions or urgent consults for pain/symptom management). We have 1-2 fellows (usually 2) plus 1-2 advanced practice nurses (also usually 2) covering during the day and our attending MDs (one on at a time) cover the service on a rotational basis. Our heme-onc resident/over night resident covering heme-onc service are the primary providers covering for our inpatient unit when our team is not in-house, but one of our fellows is also always on call.
