I am a physician assistant working in palliative medicine and have been at UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care for three years.

I am unaware of specific programs for physician assistants to receive palliative/hospice training. When I joined this program I read Hospice/Palliative Care Training for Physicians: The UNIPAC book series (the same as for our fellows). I also attended an ELNEC training course at our hospital (the same as for our nurses). My background is medical oncology (7 years) so palliative medicine was familiar territory and this may have given me an advantage over your PA. I found the UNIPAC series and ELNEC to be very helpful. I will be happy to talk to you or your PA if I can be of assistance as PAs are unfortunately scarce in palliative medicine. palliativepa@gmail.com
