Post Palliative Care Manager Salary Information

I am the pallitive care director of our hospital based program as well as the director for pastoral care services. Does anyone a resourse for salary information for these postions. Currently I am only compensated for pastoral care and I have developed and managed our palliaitve care program which has apprioximatly 250 consults per year. Thank you.

Hello: Palliative Care Manager Salary is likely highly contingent on whether one is hired to engage in services related to one’s primary discipline (e.g. nursing, social work, pastoral care), or if one is hired to perform primarily administrative duties. If one is hired for services related to one’s primary discipline, the salary should be in the range of the salary for one’s regional market; likewise if one is hired for administrative/coordination services, those salaries are also related to specific pay ranges related to the duties performed. A good place to start to address these issues is with one’s HR department and then with hospital leadership or your supervisor to make sure that one’s activities/roles/responsibilities are in line with one’s job description/salary.

The title of a Palliative Care manager and the concomitant salary likely depends on the primary discipline of the applicants or those who hold the position and I do not know of any standard source for this type of information. I would say that most of these positions in acute care settings are more coordinator type positions filled by RN’s or SW’s so this will determine salary, along with years in practice, masters or advanced trained and of course the responsibilities of the position (if it includes direct patient care, etc.). Market considerations are always important also as to how much a position is salaried at within a community.
