I am seeking information about requirements for physicians in inpt hospice. I work in a state facility, am boarded in hospice and was working in the hospice unit for the last 9 month (I was only allowed 1/2 day/wk, but went daily on my own time), helping to train a PA with no expirience and providing up to date care. I have been removed from the inpatient hospice, told it did not require a physician, nor was it a "real speciality". Now I am doing primary care, which is mid-level clinically. Are there any requirements for physician oversite by a trained physician (the medical director is an administrator physician has no training). These pts are suffering from untreated symptoms, and recently the drug dosing of methadone was done incorrectly with a bad outcome. I am concerned for these pts who are undertreated and suffering at EOL.
