Post role playing and palliative care

Is there anything published about the use of role-playing when educating medical residents and/or nurses about palliative care - breaking bad news, holding family conferences, etc?
If not published, is anyone using role-play for a palliative care educational purposes?

There is a huge literature on using role play to teach communication skills in palliative care. Two places to get started:

Mastering Communication with Seriously Ill Patients. Back A, Arnold R and Tulsky J. Cambridge University Press, 2009

In addition to David's suggestions, you may look for articles by David Browning, MSW, and colleagues about their very successful PERCS program and model, which emphasizes role play and feedback/ debriefing.

I will add too that we have begun to incoporate role play inot our training of fellows, residents, med students, also incorporating MSW Interns, newer staff to our porgram, and other nurses or whoever might be hanging around. It has turned out to be not only very effective, but kind of fun.
