I am wondering if anyone has experience in billing for social work palliative care services in a hospital or out patient clinic setting? I am exploring the option for our new clinic and would like to talk with someone who has been doing it.

Hi. This exact conversation is going on in the SW in hospice and pall care listserve! must be something in the water. The short answer is it is not currently possible to bill for SW in the inpt setting. There are some options in outpatient clinics,depending mostly upon the activity, e.g: counseling / mental health/ care ccord or case mgmt have different procedures and codes for billing, as well as criteria for practitioners able to bill that apply.
