Post Staffing on in-pt palliative care units

For those members who have in-pt Pall Care units; could you share the number of beds your social worker is responsible for. Is your social worker dedicated only to pall care service or does employee have other responsibilities? For hospitals who have a case management/social work model; is the pall care social worker's role outside of this model? Thank you for your assistance with this information.

The social work position is a shared assignment within the hospital based social work model.

Palliative Care beds varies with max of 10 beds.
Other assignment of hospital services 25 beds.

Social worker is Licensed Clinic social worker and has 10 years of hospice experience and 10 years of 10 hospital experience.

Role includes education/consultation with MD and RN consult team on as needed basis for complex care

I work as an inpt palliative care social worker for a medical center. I work with patients referred for palliative care consults only. I hopefully enhance the hospital social workers' role but attempt not to duplicate efforts. I try to keep open communication and collaboration with each social worker on any given hospital unit in which I'm working. My primary responsibility is education and support related to disease process and goal setting.
