This is a work in progress, but I am not aware of much in publication at this point. Are you looking for inpatient LOS? Hospitalizations at time of death? Time in pall care program before death? I can say anecdotaly that this last item can range from hours to years. There are recommended metrics to collect, including volume data, diagnosis, referring sources, numbers of consults, pain scores, family and or/ referring provider satisfaction feedback. In general, the advice is to start: find reasonable data to collect and choose data that means something to the organization and key stakeholders.
