CAPC Palliative Care Discussion Forum
Pediatric Palliative Care
Hello,
Salary ranges are often related to specific community norms. As a new specialty, information is sparse for both peds and adult palliative care. The range depends on academic versus community, scope of work, and experience of the provider.
Considerations you may want to discuss are:
position description: what is the ratio of clinical, program development, and leadership activities; you may be able to negotiate a higher salary depending on the amount of administrative time and the outcomes you are expected to accomplish. Best to ask for as much clarity as possible, both for determining salary and feasibility of the expectations.
Ask about the salary ranges for other employed specialists/consultants in your hospital or of hospitalists if you are considered similar to that department.
The salary should be determined according to a full time salary adjusted for the percentage of fte you will hold.
