CAPC Palliative Care Discussion Forum
Pediatric Palliative Care
Dear Nancy,
This is my first reply to post and I'm quite excited about connecting with folks - nice. I work for Family Health International as a Palliative Care Technical Officer and cover Africa, Latin America - only Guyana - and the Caribbean - also PEPFAR work. I am based in South Africa so I travel a lot.
I have worked with our FHI team in Ethiopia to work on developing palliative care within their home based care programs. I was there last November and unfortunately not back yet. I would love to see you guys link up cause we are emphasizing that they must work with the whole family, including children and also integrate the PC/HBC with OVC work. It would be so good if we could get the hospital palliative care linked nicely with the community support.
I'm running around next week and may be out of touch for e-mail but let me know if you want me to help put you and FHI together - or maybe you already are? Please let me know. My e-mail is chorne@fhi.org.za - that one will get looked at more often than this.
Great!
Hope your work is going well - I love Ethiopia but I'm sure you have plenty of challenges!
All the best and thanks for writing,
Carla
