A contract between the hospice and the nursing facility would need to fully describe the relationship between the parties, including the role of medical director. Regardless of location of the patient for the GIP the Hospice Medical Director would be the medical director for the beds. The medical director could be attending physician or a consulting physician to the attending physician in the facility. The hospice would be responsible for paying the hospice medical director who is the medical director for the GIP unit at the facility.
