There seems to be some disagreement on the definition of Fast stage 7A with many stating that if a patient speaks more than six words in a day but they "don't make sense" that the criteria is met. I would argue that the original Fast paper defines the speech as intelligible words, meaning inappropriate speech would not qualift as 7A. Can anyone state specifically how CMS or others define FAST 7A regarding speech?
