I am currently doing a Capstone Project with implementation of a Palliative Care Program in a rural hospital. Duke University Capstone Committee has directed me to do a Quality Improvement Project vs a Research Project.
I am looking at symptoms control; patient & family satisfaction; operational metrics; and reduction in total hospital cost after Palliative Care Consult.
Requirements for a PhD research project requires time. Time is of the essence in a DNP program. Therefore to do a QI project is like doing a pilot study before you do the research project. After the DNP when you do not have the time constraints of graduation, plan a research project to include other researchers.

If I can help, please let me know.
