Thanks, Deb. You are so right about helping out with perspective. Family conferences in trauma are tough. I guess it depends on the stature of the Palliative Care team within each institution. I tend to want to defer alot of this to our non-physician "team" members because the medical discussion in that setting needs to come from the trauma physicians themselves. If we place ourselves between the physician and the family/pt in an "interpretive" role our task would be endless.
