Hi,
I think it would be a great idea to develop a mission and values statement as a palliative care team/committee if possible in your setting. "Guideposts" could include the national definitions of palliative care as well as the mission of your institution, and values held by team or committee.
We used the following mission statement when our program began several years ago: "The Palliative Care Program's mission is to reduce suffering, improve quality of life, and assist with appropriate care planning of patients with advanced, progressive illness and their families."
