Our pediatric palliative service chose Quality in Life Team or QUILT as our program name a few years ago. The name has been very helpful in explainig to patients and families what our service can provide. We just recently are considering expanding this name to the adult service as well (but still denoting if the service is pediatric or adult and palliative care could still be a sub-title). However, we are experiencing some questions from administration. They feel the program should simply be called "Palliative Care". They feel this would be more consistent with national terms. What are others' experiences? Do your programs have other names in addition to palliative care? My experience in peds is that the QUILT name works well (most people don't know what palliative care is and if they do, many associate that term with end of life.) Thank you!

The adult program here is 'Just" palliative care but we wanted something catchy and fun to market with. We think the name reflects palliative care.
