Yes - in order for a hospice to utilize a hospital bed or beds for hospice GIP services, the hospital and the hospice must have a written contract signed by both parties. The hospital is under no obligation to enter into such a contract although making this care option available has advantages for patients and families and for the hospital and the hospice.
