PC Liaison Position
Our program is undergoing some major transition due to the opening of an inpatient hospice facility in our organization. We already have an inpatient palliative care unit. I have proposed to hire a palliative care liaison (hopice provides a hospice liaison) in an attempt to “upstream” our PC patients and further develop our program. My proposal is that this RN will collaborate within the ICU, ED, stepdowns etc and develop triggers for appropriate referrals as well as provide staff education. Since our consultation team currently falls under our hospice program, I do not want this liaison to report to the consult team but to our PC program manager. Does anyone else have a position like this and what is the reporting structure?
