We do lots of hospital inpatient hospice transitions and are unable to do split-billing for one account number. Therefore, the patients are discharged from acute care and readmitted as an inpatient hospice patient. This keeps billing clear and assures that the plan of care has been thoroughly reviewed and the most appropriate plan is in place. Lots of room for abuse in those situations. Make sure all is above board, honest, appropriate, and beyond suspicion.

Good morning,
We are a free-standing hospice in Baton Rouge and have an 8-bed GIP unit at a local nursing home. One of our local hospitals has apoproached us about partnering to open a palliative care unit at the hospital that could offer GIP hospice as part of the continuum of care. Would you mind sharing the tools you mentioned in this post?
We are struggling with how best to begin!
