Competencies for RNs on a consult service in a hospital setting would be linked to the specifics of the role description as well as to general competencies for RNs in palliative care. There are three resources available through the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (www.hpna.org): a core curriculum, competencies, and scope and standards of practice: all are specific for the RN role in hospice and palliative care nursing.
