Post New consult order for readmissions?
Author: thelenm

We have a two year old palliative care program. We require a physician's order for an initial palliative care consult. Up until now, our practice has been that once a patient has been seen by palliative care, palliative care can automatically see the patient with any subsequent admissions (without a new MD order). We have just added an NP who is now billing for palliative care visits. We are wondering if this (the fact that we are billing now) has any impact on our practice of not requiring a new physician's order with subsequent admissions. Does anyone have experience with this?
