Great idea, we have no such experience, but we have inundated the institution with pamphlets related to the role of palliative care in an effort increase pt/family awareness of this role and potential service which may be available. Also we actively in-service all units and disciplines in our institution regarding the role of palliative care. We conduct at least 2 ELNEC courses annually to help increase awareness; these also all in increase our consults. Finally we offer all staff the ability to shadow us for a day or a few hours to gain greater insight as to what we palliative care do. Does this help? Patrick MSN, APRN, Clinical Director VCU/Massey’s Thomas Palliative Care Services.
