Our hospital completed a palliative care pilot in oncology and critical care lasting one and a half yrs. Now for three and a half yrs we have offered a housewide program (242-bed acute care community hospital). In 2007 total consults were 182. YTD08 is 148. I am a 20 hr 4 days per wk RN. My facility is considering increasing the position to full time. In an attempt to make the case for the FTE can you tell me what is the average case load for 1 RN FTE (per wk or per year). We do not have a dedicated social worker or chaplain. My role includes data mgmt.,all consults, education, community ourtreach, coord Schwartz Center Rounds and admin.
