| Re:Pain protocols (by SharolHerr on 07/01/2008)
There are lots of pain protocols available. The fundamental protocol is the WHO Pain ladder. Many texts and journals have also outlined pain protocols. Betty Farrell at the City of Hope Cancer Center in California has been a leader in pain management as well as several physician leaders in palliative care. We have adotped the pain protocols and symptom algorithms as set forth by Hospice Pharmacia, a pharmaceutical provider for hospice programs. The protocols easily translate into the acute care world for palliative patients. sharol Herr, RN, MSEd, CHPN; Nurse Clinician/Education Coordinator; Mt.
