I understand your concern... and it is a reasonable one. How others perceive your program is key. Associations with end-of-life, oncology, or other traditional palliative care starting points can be hard to break in the minds of your referrers. Many programs are based in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Hospital Medicine. Best,

Our palliative care program was based in the Oncology section; however, we ended up with two "service lines": 1. oncology (and many of those patients were symptom management and explanation of hospice), 2. intensive care unit, where many family meetings regards goals of care occurred.
