To whom does your palliative care team report administratively?
What type of professional (physician, nurse, manager, director, VP)?
What general area do they overssee (medical staff, nursing, quality, case management, service lines)?

I am a nurse consultant and have no medical director. I am based in the case management budget, but report directly to the Director of Aute Care.

Reporting structure varies among palliative care programs in our experience in mentoring new programs. In academic settings, the program may report to the home department of the medical director. Commonly programs report through quality, case management or patient care services (in community hospitals.) Look for an administrative champion who understands the work, and can support you in obtaining the resources your program needs.
