Hello--sorry for the very long delay in responding. Here are some thoughts on physician advisory committees:

  1. Decide what the purpose is for the advisory committee(some or all may apply): a) Advice on program development b) Increasing general physician support for palliative care c) Marketing Palliative Care Services d) Winning over reluctant physicians e) Finding physician (s) who are interested in doing PC clinical work f) other
  2. Decide which physicians and/or representatives of physician groups (e.g. oncology rep) can best meet the goals for the committee.
  3. Choice of leader should be based on who has the strongest vision/commitment towards program development and someone who is well respected by peers.

Let me know if this is helpful, or not. Thanks
