We have an outpatient clinic operating independently of a cancer center but a majority of our patients are oncology patients.
We have Standardized Procedures for the clinic in general but none specific to NPs.

I am a NP developing an outpatient palliative care within our oncology practice in Virginia. Have you been able to find a Standarized Procedures for Palliative NPs in an oncology setting?
I would love to correspond with you to see how your program is running, etc. since we are very new in our development here.
Thank you,
Katie Caton, DNP, NP-C

I have been involved in numerous phases of working in Palliative Care for the last 17 years. ONS has a terrific publication on Evidence Baseed Practice for Symptom Management. We use this as a text in our Palliative Care Course for APN at the University of Colorado, College of Nursing.
This is not an advertisement for our class rather I realize how frustrating it is when shifting our focus from curative measures to palliative measures. Our students tell us that the book and the class have helped them so much in their practice. It is a on line course that is called Complex Symptom Management and is offered through the Office of Professional Development in the College of Nursing.
