We have been asked to develop a plan for our program. Currently are program is 9-5 monday- friday, with 2 full time APN's . Can someone share their experiences, plan,process and if they are receiving on call reimbursement.

We started off the same way with Monday to Friday 8 AM to 6 PM on site consultation coverage with constant telephone availability during off hours and weekends. After two years, we instituted weekend rounds for emergencies and new consults. The 24/7 availability by telephone is crucial as there are frequently medication adjustments that must be made for patients seen during the day. Since we do not have 5 FTE, we cannot staff our service 24/7 on site but do provide 7 days of on site service for rounds with off hour availability at all times for emergencies.
